As a transplanted midwesterner, I’m used to a slower tempo, a more genuine friendliness and a kinder, gentler world than what I’ve typically found in the Philadelphia region.

That’s why I loved today’s story in the New York Times about the young Michigan-born actor who rescued an elderly gentleman who’d fallen into the subway tracks. Read it here.
