Last week I lost one of the most important people in my life, my beloved Gram.
She was the essence of unconditional love as I was growing up and, despite having 23 grandchildren and 24 GREAT-grandchildren, every last one of us somehow felt that we were her favorite.
What a gift!
We were blessed to have her as long as we did – she was 99! – and I know that she will always be in my heart.
What I learned from her was compassion, kindness, a joy in nature, patience and good, old fashion common sense.
I’m so blessed and grateful to have had my Gram.
Who has made a difference in your
life and why?
My wonderful Mom formed my life. Her generosity of spirit and concern for others were dominating forces.
She loved life and loved everyone she came into contact. She cared so much for others that she never had time for herself.
If I have one tenth of the giving nature that Mom had, I will be a superb person. But I guess I have a lot more because my husband reminds me every day of that fact. I am so proud to have been given those skills by Dorthea Winlaw. I thank God every day for letting me be her daughter.
She has been gone from this earthly existence now for a year and a half and I miss her so very much.
Thanks for the opportunity to write this down.
My Mom looked almost like your wonderful Gram in the picture you have. We spent many an hour pouring over photographs and sharing stories.
