If you’ve ever wondered how much genetics plays in your body makeup and ability to change, I wanted to share with you my experience.
I started fairly serious weight training about 15 or so years ago, using a then-new concept of combining weight training with aerobic exercise known as The Firm. Of course I started light with merely 5 pound dumbells but, gradually, over time, I was using 20 to 25 pound bells.
Here is a picture of my grandparents with their nine children.

My family is genetically inclined to have sloping shoulders and fairly flat butts.
The first thing that I, a long-time shoulder pad wearer, noticed when I began working out with weights was “Hallelujah! I have shoulders!”

Over time, especially after the introduction of tall box leg presses, I also developed a higher, rounded butt.
And, throughout the years, even when I have not exercised as much, I’ve maintained my shoulders and butt – proof positive that you CAN change destiny!
