What IS the Best Way to Use Video Marketing?

A large part of my 2009 “reinvention” involves becoming a successful Internet marketer. 

 I do have a product that I sell and, while it hasn’t hit the million dollar mark, it is a consistent seller and I’m receiving steady Clickbank payments.

 So, I study the various gurus out there – and there are plenty to learn from! – in an attempt to learn whatever I can about social media marketing, how to do a launch, list building, copy writing, etc., etc.

 If anything I probably do follow too many gurus.  I don’t need to tell you that it gets confusing!

 And one aspect of Internet marketing has me totally confused.  That aspect is the widely held belief that video is the be-all, end-all … the holy grail of Internet marketing.

 I don’t get it.

 I’m friends on Facebook with many marketers and would-be marketers and I routinely watch their videos.

 For the most part, I find them self-indulgent, embarrassing crap with little content to offer.  

Do they think that having a flip camera somehow conveys celebrity or guru status to people with no training, little personality and nothing much to say?   

Course the folks I’m talking about are usually newbies.

 I recently watched a video from a female marketer.  She hadn’t troubled to wash her hair or put on any makeup and the camera was right in her face, exposing every pore.  Her voice was annoying, she was clearly unscripted and she had nothing instructive to say.

 I don’t get it.  Is it an attempt to be “real?”

 Frank Kern can do that.  He’s a personality.  He’s funny.  He gives away amazing content – for free!

It doesn’t matter that he’s unscripted or even unshaven.

 But only Frank Kern can be Frank Kern.

 So what is the best way to incorporate video?
