Zagat’s Does Fast Food?

Ok, I will freely admit it.

I am a fast food snob.

Ever since my daughter brought home the book “Fast Food Nation” several years ago and I read it (twice!), I have oh-so-rarely stepped into a fast food joint. I would say “never” but there are those rare occasions when I will deign to buy the Chicken Bacon Ranch salad from McDonalds.

Knowing how the fast food industry has basically created havoc in its wake, from farmers destroyed to massive corporate welfare to pretty raunchy employment conditions to downright icky over processed pseudo “food” to having experienced, personally, illness from the classic American diet, well it’s all been more than enough to turn me off fast food.

So when I saw that the Zagat Guide had come out with a new survey, this one focusing on fast food … well it struck me as a little oxymoronic.  Is that a word?

Aren’t they supposed to rank the best in haute cuisine?  Instead they’re reviewing pre-frozen, pre-formed burgers where the cow probably died five years ago.

Yuck.

Not surprisingly Wendy’s came out on top.  As far as this garbage goes … well Wendy’s usually does have the best garbage.

As for me, give me Five Guys any day!
