As a transplanted midwesterner, I’m used to a slower tempo, a more genuine friendliness and a kinder, gentler world than what I’ve typically found in the Philadelphia region.
That’s why I loved today’s story in the New York Times about the young Michigan-born actor who rescued an elderly gentleman who’d fallen into the subway tracks. Read it here.

It’s been said that “The greatest gift that you can give to others is the gift of unconditional love and acceptance.”
For all of her grandchildren, Grandma Irrer epitomized unconditional love.
